IDF announces Gaza fishing space to be enlarged for fishing season
Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Gen. Yoav Mordechai, in collaboration with Israeli Navy Commander Gen. Eli Sharvit and GOC Southern Command Gen. Eyal Zamir, authorized the enlargement of the southern Gaza Strip's fishing space from six nautical miles to nine nautical miles for the duration of the October-December fishing season.
The IDF said this decision was meant to boost the breadth of fishing in Gaza, the second most important sector in the strip which is a source of both sustenance and serves as an economic engine.
