IDF declares area near Gaza border fence as closed military zone
GOC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Eyal Zamir signed a directive defining the area around the Gaza Strip border fence as a closed military zone.
The directive prohibits farmers from the Israeli settlements around the Gaza Strip to work land near the fence as well as civilians from arriving to work on the subterranean barrier.
The directive was issued following concrete warnings on the possibility of an attack against soldiers or civilians following the detonation of Palestinian Islamic Jihad's terror tunnel last week.
