Hamas official denies being appointed new West Bank military commander

Senior Hamas official Maher Obeid responded to Ynet's exposure and denied that he was appointed as Hamas' new military commander in the West Bank.

"This is an honor that I do not deserve, it is a lie," he said.

Obeid claimed that the goal of attributing him with the position was to drive a wedge between the Palestinians and hinted that the publication was intended to justify his assassination by Israel.
