Southern Command Chief : 'Hamas is paying a rising price for the fires'

According to Southern Command Chief Herzl Halevi, "The IDF, together with the fire department and the JNF, are operating on the ground to extinguish the fires. We have already reduced the amount of burnt area considerably."

Halevi added: "We developed various techniques for increasing our response. We are creating a state of affairs in which Hamas is paying a rising price for all the fires he is starting."

Earlier Sunday, firefighting forces worked on extinguishing six different blazes that broke out as a result of incendiary balloons launched into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. All six fires have been extinguished.
