Dozens of members of the ultra-Orthodox community protest against light rail construction works in Bnei Brak; say will not allow Shabbat desecration; most of the construction workers on site are Chinese.

Dozens of members of the ultra-Orthodox community demonstrated overnight Friday against light rail construction works during the weekends and holidays in Petah Tikva and adjacent to Bnei Brak .

 

 

Social activists and rabbis from Bnei Brak's neighborhoods came to protest against light rail construction works executed during the Jewish day of rest and called to halt them immediately.

Last week, severe damage was caused to construction tools in the light rail station in Ramat Gan due to heavy rains that flooded the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.

 

In addition, a section of a paved road in Bnei Brak collapsed. The police said the Bnei Brak Municipality is responsible for repairing its roads and infrastructures. However, it was not done to avoid Shabbat desecration.
