An upset in Beit Shemesh's municipal elections: Dr. Aliza Bloch defeated the ultra-Orthodox incumbent Mayor Moshe Abutbul on Thursday morning.
The race was initially too close to call. On Wednesday, Abutbul was leading with only 251. It was votes from IDF soldiers, prisoners and accessible ballot boxes that allowed Bloch to edge ahead, winning by only 533 votes.
