Controversial camera bill fails to get past first reading

A controversial bill to place cameras in polling stations that was promoted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party did not make it past its first reading the Knesset on Wednesday, after it failed win support of a simple majority of lawmakers.

The bill only received support from 58 MKs, three short of the 61 votes it needed in the 120-strong parliament.
