At least 143 dead in Iran unrest - Amnesty International

Amnesty International has released on Monday a new estimate of the death toll in the crackdown on the recent protests in Iran, saying that at least 143 people were killed.

"According to credible reports... those killed include at least 143 people," said the London-based rights group, as cited by AFP. "The deaths have resulted almost entirely from the use of firearms."

Earlier in the day, Iran staged pro-regime protests, where thousands rallied against the 'rioting' during the unrest that was triggered by a petrol price hike on November 15.
