Poll: Half of Israeli men give flowers, perfume for Valentine’s day

Valentine’s Day is generally a day to exchange sweet but prosaic gifts that cheer the heart more than they pleasure the body or mind

Planning to give her flowers, again? Valentine’s Day is generally a day to exchange sweet but prosaic gifts that cheer the heart more than they pleasure the body or mind.

According to a survey sponsored by the R3 condom company and carried out by the GeoCartographia Research Institute, about half of Israeli men planned to give their partners flowers (28 percent) or perfume (22.4 percent), and 47 percent are convinced they’ll have more sex than usual.

The survey questioned 250 secular and conservative respondents, aged 18 to 35.

According to Dr. Ronit Aloni, who specializes in sex and relationship therapy, to buy a Valentine’s Day gift, you must know your partner well.

“We shouldn’t buy what we like, but we should try to get into the head of the one receiving the gift,” Dr. Aloni said.

“The gift-buying process reveals a couple’s dynamics – when there is no mutual consideration and listening, the man will buy himself what he likes then will be shocked when his partner isn’t thrilled,” she said. Aloni even recommended shopping together.
