Galit Giat is winner of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Actress, her partner Kiril Sivolapov victorious over Vika Finkelstein, Dani Yochtman in TV show finals. 'It was a great evening… just as I expected,’ says Giat

Actress Galit Giat and her dance partner Kiril Sivolapov won first place in the “Dancing with the Stars” 2008 finals which aired Saturday night on Channel 2.

Thus, months and months of strenuous training which began this past May with the opening of the fourth seasons, came to an end.

“It was a great evening which took place just as I expected. This is proof that a long way, desire and love of stage are triumphant,” Giat told Ynet after learning of her victory.

The competition, which included three appearances by each of the couples, opened with a round of classical dances. The first round ended with a judge’s tie in which each couple received 37 points.

In the second round, Vika Finkelstein and her partner Dani Yochtman were at an advantage with 38 points for their cha-cha-cha in comparison with the 36 points Galit and Kiril received for their samba.

In the last round, in which both couples danced freestyle, the judges did not give points to the contestants but did not hide their prepossession.

“If I had to give a score, I would give you a 20,” judge Gavri Levi told Giat and Sivolapov when they finished dancing.

“Just like I’ve said numerous times, you are a queen," judge Ilanit Tadmor told Finkelstein after her dance with Yochtman.

At the end of the evening, the judges revealed their personal choices. Gavri Levi and Eli Mizrachi said that Finkelstein and Yochtman were worthy of the first place, while Ilanit Tadmor and Claude Dadia chose the other couple.

At the end of the day, the viewers’ votes via text messages tipped the scales and bestowed the awaited victory upon Giat and Sivolapov.
