'He makes it laugh, cry and almost talk'

'Long live Giora, his clarinet and his music. He builds bridges between generations, cultures and classes and he does it with perfect artistry'

This lavish praise from Leonard Bernstein was for Giora Feidman, the man who has recreated the art of Jewish Klezmer music for some forty years.

Born and raised in Argentina in 1936, Giora Feidman grew up bathed in Jewish Klezmer tradition. After coming to live in Israel he studied classical music and joined the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In the early 1970s he commenced his musical message – the worldwide renaissance of the old Klezmer tradition which he enriches with multifaceted styles of classical and modern music.

"I pick up the clarinet to share a message with mankind. I do not go onstage to show that I can play an instrument. I go onstage to speak music, to let people share my inner voice," claimed Giora.

Giora Feidman presents his audience, not only with a very personal interpretation of Klezmer, but with boundless homage to life. His concerts given throughout the world have provided audiences with a deep insight to the inner soul of Judaism expressed through the traditional Klezmer tunes and rhythms.

Onstage, Giora makes his clarinet laugh, cry and almost talk. He constantly captivates his audience by producing something new and unexpected.

Giora Feidman has played with top international orchestras and has been highly decorated for his wonderful service to music. He is nothing short of a musical phenomenon.
