President's brother investigated over sexual assault charges
Lior Katsav denies he sexually assaulted foreign worker who had asked for his assistance to arrange her stay in Israel two years ago
President Moshe Katsav's brother, Lior, was questioned Tuesday for allegedly committing an indecent assault against a foreign worker who had asked for his assistance to arrange her stay in Israel two years ago.
President Katsav is currently on leave of absence following Attorney General Menachem Mazuz's decision to indict him for allegedly committing sex offenses against former employees.
The woman filed the complaint against him after she was arrested by the immigration police for living in Israel without permit. The complaint stated that Lior Katsav sexually assaulted her when she was working in Kushi Rimon's inn, a well-known rest stop on the way to Eilat.
Her complaint was immediately transferred to the police for investigation. She passed a polygraph test that confirmed she was saying the truth.
Lior Katsav responded to the incident after it was made public that "this is yet another made-up story and there is absolutely nothing to it. It is sad that everyone who is arrested tries to get out by fabricating stories against the Katsav family. This too will turn out to have no truth to it."
Katsav admitted that the law firm where he worked at the time represented the inn and he had been there from time to time. However, he denied having any connection with any of the workers in the place.
Kushi Rimon told Ynet that "this is a girl in distress who has family in Israel. She arrived in Israel with a working visa and it was not extended when it expired.
"She was always afraid that they would take her and she wouldn't have anyone to talk to. A month ago the immigration police arrested her and she's been locked up since then."
