The leftists were carrying signs which read, "Violence and incitement are destroying democracy," "Stop the blood alliance", and a sign bearing Yigal Amir's face with the smile on his face erased and the writing "Erasing the murderer's smile". The protestors also waved the Israeli flag and Meretz and Labor Party flags.

Police forces stood between the two groups of demonstrators. The extreme rightists who arrived at the prison included Itamar Ben-Gvir and Avigdor Eskin, who held signs reading, "We’ve had enough of hypocrites", "Leave the child alone" and "Freedom of expression not only for leftists."

The left-wing activists shouted at the rightists that "Amir should rot in jail", and the right-wing activists replied, "Go to Barghouti, Barghouti's friends."

The leftists went on, "Which one of you went to the army? Which one of you liberated Jerusalem? You are a Jewish Hamas, we are the normal ones."

The rightists shouted back, "Honor the court's decision. The leftists from 'A Star is Born' did not go to the army as well. You support Barghouti. Why did Samir Kuntar get married in prison?"

Extreme-right wing activist Itamar Ben-Gvir told Ynet, "We do not support the act committed by Yigal Amir, but we are here to protest the Left's hypocrisy."

According to Ben-Gvir, "When Samir Kuntar married three women in prison we did not hear the Left and they did not demonstrate. All we are asking is that you let the child be, as he is not the criminal, and provide Yigal Amir with human rights in prison."

Large police forces, including mounted police and Border Guard officers, were dispatched to the area in order to prevent clashes between the two camps.
