Report: IDF warns Gazans to keep away from border fence

A week after a Qassam rocket landed near a house in Sderot, and a few days after two foiled terror attacks at the border fence on Friday, the IDF is sending a warning to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Israel Air Force helicopters on Monday dropped thousands of leaflets throughout the Strip warning residents to keep a distance from the border fence.

The leaflet, written in the Arabic language read: "You have been warned. We urge residents of the Strip to keep a 300-meter (328-yard) distance from the fence."

The leaflets addressed all residents of the Strip and mentioned in particular residents of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya in the northern Strip, residents of al-Mghazi and Dir al-Balah in the central Strip, residents of Absan near Khan Younis, and Kerem Shalom and Rafih in the south.

The leaflets featured maps of the mentioned areas, and residents were urged to stay away "lest they be harmed".

A resident of the Khan Younis holding a leaflet in his hand told Ynet, "And what are the residents supposed to do?

"Not those that have to pass through or work at a distance of less than 300 meters, but those that live dozens of meters or even a few meters away from the fence?

"Do the Israelis expect these people to start migrating yet again and flee like during the war?" he wondered.
