Sudmi brothers indicted for boy's murder
Month after heinous murder of seven-year-old Leon Kalantarov in Beni Ayish, indictment filed against twins Naor, Adir Sudmi, who are also charged on seven other counts including molestation of other minors. According to indictment, brothers molested Kalantarov prior to murder
After being deemed fit to stand trial, twins Naor and Adir Sudmi were brought before the Petah Tikva District Court Thursday, where an indictment was filed against them for the murder of seven-year-old Leon Kalantarov in Beni Ayish.
The brothers are also charged with seven other counts of molestation of Kalantarov and other minors, as well as aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
The indictment suggests that on December 31, 2009 the twins spotted Kalantarov near their house. The defendants lured the boy into the house by promising to play with him, and, while their mother was asleep, they entered their room, undressed the boy and molested him.
The Sudmi twins later strangled Kalantarov with their bare hands. After killing the boy, they wrapped his body in plastic paper and placed it underneath one of the beds in their room.
Some seven hours later, a policewoman arrived at their house and asked the twins whether they saw Kalantarov, to which they replied negatively. Three hours later police officers arrived again and finally found the boy's body in the the twins' room.
During their interrogation the brothers, known pedophiles, claimed they found the Kalantarov's body outside the house. A police source said that initially the two gave different versions as to where the body was supposedly found.
Police sources noted that the two had not confessed to the murder. In one of the last court hearings on their case Naor Sudmi said that neither he nor his brother knew the boy.
Additional charges
The Sudmi brothers are also charged with molesting another seven-year-old boy. According to the indictment, the brothers approached him on the street, and suggested he accompany them to their house.
When their mother called them, they forcefully shoved him inside a closet in their room, but he managed to escape. A week later they met the boy again, and performed an indecent act in front of him.
In a separate count, the brothers are charged with molesting a minor in addition to false imprisonment. On several occasions between 2007-2009 the two showed a six-year-old boy pornographic videos, exposed themselves to him and locked him in their room.
They later threatened the boy with a knife after he filed a complaint against them with the police.
Naor Sudmi is also charged with molesting a nine-year-old boy.
