Windshield of state comptroller's daughter smashed

Judge Eilona Lindenstrauss-Ariely's car damaged overnight; police launch investigation

An unknown assailant on Saturday night smashed the windshield of a car belonging to Judge Eilona Lindenstrauss-Ariely, who serves in the Nazareth Transportation Court.

The judge is the daughter of State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss and the wife of Kiryat Tivon Local Council head David Ariely. She and her husband were on vacation in France when the incident took place near their home in the northern town of Kiryat Tivon.

Investigation of the vandalism revealed that the windshield of another car on the street on which Judge Lindenstrauss-Ariely lives was smashed in an attempted theft. The police reported that despite this discovery, the investigation will continue and will examine whether the damage was intentionally aimed at the judge herself.

Violent acts against Israeli judges have been on the rise recently. Supreme Court President Dorit Beinish was attacked with a shoe during a court session several months ago, and the car of Akko Judge Moshe Gilad was set on fire.

Courts Administration Director Judge Moshe Gal received a fax recently reading, "Another judge must be murdered just as they murdered in the past. We will kill a judge with a LAU missile."
