Woman stabbed to death in Netanya; ex-husband main suspect

Police checking whether murder in apartment building stairwell linked to stabbing attack by Arab earlier in the day

A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death in a stairwell of an apartment building on Binyamin Boulevard in Netanya Wednesday morning.

Police initially checked whether the incident was related to another stabbing attack in the city's Kiryat Hasharon neighborhood earlier in the day, but later named the woman's ex-husband as the main suspect in the murder.

In the earlier incident, a 39-year-old man sustained mild injuries when he was stabbed, apparently by an Arab. Police suspect the attack was an act of terror and have launched a manhunt after the assailant.

At around 12:15 pm police received a report of a woman who was stabbed in the city's center. Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene treated the woman, who was stabbed in the neck, but they eventually pronounced her death.

According to an initial investigation, the woman, who lived in the building, left her apartment and was stabbed in the lobby. She was found lying in a pool of blood. Neighbors who heard her screams alerted police and emergency services. Police are trying to locate the victim's ex-husband.

In the early morning hours a man claimed to have been stabbed in his abdomen and hand by an Arab who shouted 'Allahu Akbar (G-d is great)'.

Police detained three Palestinian suspects for questioning.
