Witnesses say the flyers contain a sketch of which area is off-limits. In another flyer distributed in Gaza, residents were asked to give information on tunnel smugglers in the Strip.
According to the Palestinian report, the first flyer contained "incitement against the Palestinian resistance," saying "the IDF warns again to keep a safe distance of at least 300 meters from the security fence. Anyone who comes near is putting himself in danger because IDF forces will take every precaution necessary to keep him away with the help of arms if needed… Signed: IDF Headquarters."
The second flyer allegedly solicits information on smugglers in the Strip. "Terrorists, tunnel owners and smugglers of military equipment know very well that the continuation of terror acts, smuggling of military equipment and digging of tunnels is considered a constant target for further IDF operations, but they continue to operate in your place of residence and to assimilate among you," the flyer read, according to the newspaper report.
It added: "The digging of tunnels from your homes or nearby and the smuggling of military equipment into the Strip by such terrorists puts your life in danger as well as your children, your families and your possessions. You must take responsibility for your future! You must call or email the following address and pass along information on the terrorists involved in this industry of death related to the tunnels."
Ongoing fire
Earlier Monday Air Force jets attacked a terror squad planning to target IDF soldiers in the southern Gaza Strip near the fence on Monday. The IDF said the operation was a joint effort with the Shin Bet.
According to a report by the Palestinian news agency Ma'an, IAF jets fired a number of missiles at outposts east of Khan Younis. Two Palestinians were reportedly hurt in the attack, one of them sustaining serious wounds. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The Palestinians reported that the IDF launched a strike in response which left seven wounded, among them four children. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit denied an attack took place.
Military officials said that Hamas is not preventing other groups from firing rockets and is possibly trying to test Israel's response. Hamas is being held accountable for all rocket fire.
