On Sunday residents of southern Israel were woken up with Color Red alerts. Two rockets were fired within hours of each other from the northern Gaza Strip and fell south of Ashkelon and in open areas in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

No one was injured in Sunday's first rocket attack, but the second rocket resulted in one man being injured from shrapnel. The man, a foreign worker, was treated at the scene by medical teams and evacuated to the Barzilai hospital, where he is now recovering from mild wounds.

The rockets were fired on Israel after an IDF strike on the strip. Palestinian sources reported that IDF helicopters attacked a terror cell north of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. The report also stated that they killed a member of the al-Quds brigade, the Islamic Jihad's military wing.

An IDF spokesman said after the strike that the Israeli Air Force thwarted an attempt to launch rockets on Israel.
