Wednesday's incident took place after the troops completed a routine operation in the Ramallah-adjacent village. The soldier was safely escorted out of the area by Palestinian security forces.
The force's commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Mulli Cohen, was suspended pending the inquiry's results.
The decision on his suspension was made after a consultation between GOCs Northern and Central commands. The 188th Armored Brigade is deployed in Central Command areas, but it answers operationally to the Northern Command.
