'Police officer accepted sex toys as bribe'

Intel coordinator for Tel Aviv Central Unit allegedly warned brothel owners prior to raids in exchange for money, services and sex paraphernalia

Sex toys under the table: Shlomo Serbi, the intelligence coordinator for the Tel Aviv Police's Central Unit, was charged with a number of crimes on Wednesday, including bribery, obstruction of justice, and violating the public's trust.

The case against him alleges that he accepted bribes in the form of money, services, and paraphernalia from brothel and sex shops' owners.

According to the indictment, Serbi "crossed the line," and rather than enforcing the law and fighting criminal corruption, took advantage of his position and authority to commit serious crimes.

The indictment states that Serbi, acting through an intermediary, would tip off Tel Aviv brothel owners ahead of planned police raids.

In exchange for the heads-up, the intermediary – with Serbi's knowledge – allegedly accepted services from brothel owners, as well as payments amounting to over NIS 15,000 (roughly $3,900).

In addition, the indictment reads, while fulfilling his duties Serbi made the acquaintance of G., the owner of a sex toy store, who would give the police officer items from his stock in exchange for information.
