Retired Princeton rabbi dies in crash
Driver charged with death by auto in chain reaction crash that claimed life of Rabbi James Diamond, 74, former director of university's Center for Jewish Life
New Jersey authorities have charged a driver with death by auto in a chain reaction crash that claimed the life of the retired director of Princeton University's Center for Jewish Life.
Princeton police say 74-year-old Rabbi James Diamond was getting into the passenger side of a car when he was struck and thrown to the ground Thursday.

The Times of Trenton reports police said a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Eric Maltz of Princeton was speeding when it crossed lanes and struck an unoccupied car, which careened about 500 feet before striking the car Diamond was getting in.
Maltz remains hospitalized in stable condition. His bail is set at $100,000.
The crash remains under investigation.
Diamond was appointed to the university post in 1995 and he retired in 2003.
