A 10-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car while crossing a road near Ashkelon with a friend.
The girl was treated at the scene by Magen David Adom paramedics and taken in critical condition to the Barzilai Medical Center in the city, where she died.

The girl was with a friend and her cousin in Moshav Berekhya near Ashkelon .At approximately 10:30 pm she was hit by a car while the three were crossing a nearby road. The girl's friend and cousin managed to cross safely.

  • The girl's cousin was also taken for medical treatment as she suffered shock.
The driver, 22, is an Ashdod resident and is currently being questioned by police.
In comparison to the same period in 2012, the number of road accidents, including fatal ones, has increased.
