2 officers injured from blast in North

Explosive unintentionally detonated, resulting in injury of two IDF officers. Victims evacuated to hospital in stable condition. IDF launches investigation

Two officers from Paratroopers Platoon 890 sustained injuries on Tuesday as a result of accidentally activated explosives near a Mount Dov army post.

 

The two, one injured lightly and the other moderately, received treatment from their fellow soldiers and were evacuated in stable condition by chopper to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

The two officers arrived in the hospital conscious. According to the director of the ER, Dr. Shlomi Israeli, the two sustained shrapnel injuries and burns to their upper bodies and limbs.

Several accidents have occurred during IDF training in 2013, some of which claimed soldiers' lives.

 

In May, Corporal Roee Alfi who was killed in a mine blast during training.

 

In March, a technical failure in a Cobra helicopter claimed the lives of Lt.-Col. Noam Ron, 49, and Maj. Erez Flekser, 31.

 

In 2012, the number of fatalities in IDF accidents has risen.
