The actor is known for his roles in Hollywood films like "Shakespeare in Love," "Elizabeth," and "Goodbye Bafana." He will arrive for the film's Israeli gala screening which will take place in Haifa on October 15. The film will also compete in the festival's official competition.

"Spring 41," shot in the English language, is the first and only Israeli-Polish coproduction so far. The script was written by Motti Lerner, who was inspired by the stories of Israel Prize for Literature Laureate Ida Fink. The film is a tragic love story between a man and two women during World War II.

Fiennes plays the role of a young doctor who escapes from his home with his wife and two daughters following the German occupation and finds shelter in a remote farm, at the home of a Christian Polish woman his family used to buy food from before the war.

During their stay at the farm, an intimate relationship develops between the doctor and the Polish woman, creating a balance of terror between love, dependency, faithfulness and betrayal. The film also stars Clare Higgins, Neve McIntosh and Maria Pakulnis.

During his visit to Israel, Fiennes will hold a meeting with the audience.
