Meanwhile, the IDF disabled veterans organization has renewed its battle against the Defense Ministry's rehabilitation department a few weeks after the government approved the conclusions reached by the Goren Committee.
The committee recommended that the benefits for former IDF combatants who became disabled in military operations be improved at the expense of the non-combatant disabled veterans.
The Defense Ministry said in response: "Over the last few years some major changes have been made in the rehabilitation unit which have brought about a major improvement in the quality of service and response given to IDF disabled veterans.
"The Defense Ministry has no intention of debating these issues in the media and intends to continue its ongoing and matter of fact dialogue with the chairman of the IDF disabled veterans organization in order to continue to improve the service given to IDF disabled veterans. "
Sources within the ministry also noted that: "There are growing estimations within the ministry that the IDF disabled veterans organization has begun to prepare the groundwork for a struggle by presenting claims with regards to agreements reached with the Defense Ministry.
"The true purpose of the spin is meant to torpedo the legislation of the Goren Committee conclusions which were recently approved by the cabinet."
