
Assailants opened fire at an IDF force at the Israel-Egypt border on Wednesday. The troops fired back. No soldiers were injured.
An IDF force on a routine patrol near the Mount Carmit outpost noticed a group of infiltrators who crossed the border into Israel from Sinai. Stepping off their vehicle, they heard shots from the Egyptian side of the border and fired back.

It remains unclear whether the shots were directed at the troops or were part of a fire exchange between smugglers and Egyptian soldiers.
A similar incident took place early last week when gunmen fired at a bus transporting soldiers at the Ein Netafim area near the Israel-Egypt border.
