The Meretz
Party held its primaries on Sunday evening, voting for MK Ilan Gilon
at number two, following party chairwoman Zehava Gal-On,
and MK Nitzan Horowitz
at number three.
Coming in fourth was Michal Rozin, former executive director of the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, followed by Isawi Faraj, Tamar Zandberg, Avshalom Vilan and Mossi Raz.

Excited by the record high turnout, party chairwoman Galon said there was "A feeling of change, of vigor; as soon as the political system stabilizes, the party could regain its power."

Ilan Gilon, accompanied by many supporters, noted that "If 50% of those who love me voted for me, I'd be prime minister."
MK Horowitz admitted that though the party had just concluded its primaries, it was already in the midst of its campaign for the Knesset election. Referring to the January 22 election, former party chairman Chaim Oron concluded: "If you're leftwing, vote Meretz."
