Post-Arab Spring gender equality still elusive

Female rights activists say Arab women still denied freedoms, protection as regimes threaten to impose Sharia law

VIDEO - Two years after the first mass protests shook the Arab world and eventually led to the ousting of deep-seated autocratic regimes in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen, female rights activists have said that women still do not enjoy adequate freedoms or protection.

Meanwhile, the shadow of Sharia law is now creeping across the region with Islamist regimes threatening to further restrict the limited rights enjoyed by women in Arab Spring countries.
