The Palestinian managed to dodge the stones, ran into a car in which his friend was waiting, and got away.
Another policeman, who set a roadblock on the pathway on which the getaway car was driving, had apparently set the roadblock wrong, and the suspects managed to drive over it and flee.
The last chance to catch the men was also missed, as three police vehicles arriving at the scene drove by the fleeing suspects instead of blocking the road, and the would-be thieves escaped.
The Judea and Samaria District Police stated that it was "running determinant enforcement efforts that are yielding results every day regarding the war on crime."
The police statement added that the attempt to set a decoy for thieves was one of many preventative measures launched in various areas in the district, "and the results of this uncompromising enforcement are evident in crime rates."
