The Beach Boys cancel Israel show

Legendary American band fails to provide reason for decision to call off November concert. Meanwhile, veteran Australian soft rock duo Air Supply signs contract for two Tel Aviv shows in December.

Legendary American rock and pop band The Beach Boys has called off its planned concert in Israel next month. The show was scheduled to take place on November 29 at Tel Aviv's Nokia Arena.

Producer Gad Oron was surprised to receive the news from the band's representatives, who noted that the group members were looking forward to return to the region soon and that ticket purchasers will receive a refund within 14 days.

The Israeli production stated the concert was not cancelled due to disappointing ticket sales and that it had expected to sell thousands of tickets by the time of the show.

It should be mentioned, however, that the band was slated to perform in Israel without one of its founding members, Brian Wilson, and that may have led to poor ticket sales.

Meanwhile, veteran Australian soft rock duo Air Supply has signed a contract for two concerts at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv on December 12 and 14, three years after its previous visit to Israel.

The band, which consists of Graham Russell as guitarist and singer-songwriter and Russell Hitchcock as lead vocalist, began its career in 1975 and is still recording and performing across the world.

The duo, which has sold more than 100 million copies of its albums over the years, was mostly successful in the 1980 with top 10 hits such as "The One That You Love," "All Out of Love," "Here I Am" and "Even the Nights are Better."

Russell and Hitchcock are still very active: They have been performing all around the world, and in May 2010 they released an album with 14 new songs. In 2008, they reached the 83rd place on Billboard magazine's 100 all-time top bands list.
