Beersheba Police arrested Thursday a 28-year-old man who is suspected of strangling cats and posting images of the abuse on Facebook.

The suspect, who allegedly bit the cats as well, was arrested at his home by members of the municipal police unit, who also confiscated his personal computer.

"Following complaints filed by citizens, we used various technological devices over the past three days in order to track down the suspect," said Chief Inspector Dudu Levy, the commander of the municipal police unit.
"As far as we are concerned, animal abuse is a serious offence, and we will deal with it with all the means at our disposal," he said.
Investigators are examining the authenticity of the photos posted on Facebook. Two cats that were found in the suspect's apartment were transferred to the care of the Municipal Veterinary Services Department.
