East Jerusalem resident charged with incitement to terrorism

Suzanne Abu Ghanem, 39, posted pictures of Hamas terrorists on Facebook and Instagram, praising them and calling for violence: 'God forgive us for failing to do something about Al Aqsa. The time has come for a revolution.'

A woman from east Jerusalem was indicted Monday for incitement to violence and to terrorism and support for a terrorist organization over posts she made on Facebook and Instagram.

According to the charges, posts made by Suzanne Abu Ghanem, 39, from A-Tur, on social media are full of praise and sympathy for Hamas and called for acts of violence and terrorism.

In her posts, the accused praises the terrorist who murdered Yotam Ovadia in the settlement of Adam about three weeks ago, as well as the terrorist who murdered Rabbi Raziel Shevah about six months ago.

Last May, Abu Ghanem's Facebook account was shut down, but she opened a new one and continued posting inciting messages.

The indictment detailed a long list of online posts and statements made by Abu Ghanem praising terrorists and calling on others to follow suit.

On the night of the Adam attack, Abu Ghanem posted a picture of terrorist Mohammad Tareq Yousef, along with a message the terrorist wrote before committing the heinous act.

Next to his picture, the defendant wrote: "The time has come for a revolution. God forgive us for failing to do something about Al Aqsa. Memorize this—this is the will of the shahid (martyr)."

Abu Ghanem's son was killed by Israeli police during Muslim protests against the installation of metal detectors at the entrance of the Al-Aqsa Mosque following the deadly attack that claimed the lives of the two Israeli police officers.

The day after her son was killed, the defendant posted a picture of Ahmed Jarar, one of the members of the terrorist group that murdered Rabbi Shevah, along with a picture of her son.

"Goodbye hero, the stronghold cries over your loss," Abu Ghanem wrote.

On the anniversary of the assassination of Masbah Abu-Sabih—the terrorist who killed Levana Malihi, 60, and decorated police officer Yossi Kirma at the Ammunition Hill light rail station in Jerusalem—Abu Ghanem posted a picture of the terrorist on the backdrop of the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque with a caricature of a person holding a slingshot. The inscription on the picture read: "The Revolution—Jerusalem."

In addition to the pictures, Abu Ghanem also posted the following statement: "The lion's inner voice will be heard, with the help of God, no matter how the devious disappoint, Aqsa does not miss anyone like it misses your heroism and bravery, the lion of Al-Aqsa."

The defendant also praised the terrorist who carried out the Har Adar shooting attack, in which a Border Policeman and two civilian security guards were killed.

On the day of the attack, Abu Ghanem wrote a Facebook post that praises terrorism—"God is Great and we are grateful, three Zionists were killed in a shooting attack in occupied Jerusalem"—along with the hashtag "#therevolutioncontinues."

In addition, after the attack on the Temple Mount a little over a year ago, Abu Ghanem posted a pictures of the terrorists who murdered Staff Sgt. Maj. Ha'il Satawi and Staff Sgt. Maj. Kamil Shnaan, writing: "The Shahada (an Islamic creed ) is in this earth and in the sky. Your smile in heaven is more beautiful with the help of God."
