Lebanese Al Akhbar newspaper reported Tuesday that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was absent from Monday's meeting with the Egyptian intelligence mission for fear of Israeli assassination.
The delegation that arrived in the Gaza Strip sent Hamas a threatening message that if it doesn't cease its rocket and balloon attacks against Israel - it would strike a hard blow for, backed by the U.S. and the international community.
Hamas made it clear that it was not interested in escalation - but threatened that it would not remain quiet at the border as long as there was a delay in talks with Israel.
