Top Haredi MK says community will not shut down schools

United Torah Judaism co-leader MK Moshe Gafni told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Sunday that the ultra-Orthodox community will not agree to close down schools that opened illegally, including in high-infection areas.
In a statement, Gafni said he had “made clear” to Netanyahu a demand by a leading rabbi Chaim Kanievsky that Haredi children be allowed back at school — despite fears that the education system may be a major contributor to the spread of the virus.
