Hamas’ “ridiculous response” to a U.S.-mediated hostage deal proposal is the reason for the breakdown talks in Qatar and the recall of the Israeli negotiation team, a senior political official told Ynet on Tuesday.
“They've made excessive demands for the release of many prisoners with blood on their hands, insisting on choosing the prisoners' identities and demanding complete freedom to decide who gets released from prison,” the official said.
“In contrast, Israel has made significant concessions, agreeing in some categories to double the number of prisoners it is willing to release." (Itamar Eichner)
