Jerusalem police bans Jewish visitors on Temple Mount

Haim Golditch|
Jerusalem police on Monday stopped Jews from entering the Temple Mount compound on Monday after violation of rules under the status quo.
"We will continue to enforce rules that have been in place for years and have detained a man who was seen violating them," the police said.
Under the status quo, Jews are not permitted to pray on the Muslim holy shrine which is also revered by Jews.
On Sunday a court ordered the release of men who were detained by the police for such violations, a ruling the police intends to appeal.
