Well educated, yet completely ignorant

Opinion: Following Hamas' attack on October 7, calls for support for the terrorist organization in the West make it clear that its moral compass has been altered

Let's dive into something fundamental: values. While ethics can often be a murky landscape, some values are starkly black and white. In the Holocaustic tragedy that occurred on October 7th, we witnessed the horrifying rape and murder of women, the execution of innocent infants, people burned alive in their homes, and an attack on a music festival for the sake of peace. Yes, peace.

On October 7th, Hamas launched a barbaric attack that claimed over 1400 lives, kidnapped over 240, and left more than 3000 wounded. This tragedy can rightly be described as the Israeli 9/11. It's clearly evident that Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Hamas all embrace the same monstrous, baby-killing set of values.

But what about Western individuals who lend their support to these groups? Who are those people who may genuinely support these actions out of ignorance and justify their stance, overlooking the atrocities committed? The answer is unequivocal; they cannot. Those who endorse these groups or even slightly tolerate them, whether knowingly or not, are effectively endorsing values akin to those upheld by ISIS and Osama Bin Laden.
This leads us, the citizens of the global village, to a critical question: How can we identify such individuals, particularly among those who appear "smart" but may harbor ignorance about these actions and the values they embrace by supporting them?
The reality is that we can never entirely discern a person's deep values. They won't openly declare them in job interviews, visa applications, or university admissions. A glaring example of this dilemma is the presence of anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian individuals who support Hamas actions and therefore share the same values as ISIS.

We are determined to ensure that these individuals have no place in our personal world, as these values can easily evolve into barbaric actions, as the tragedy of October 7th can happen anywhere; in any community, these values will plant roots.
So, how do we protect ourselves from the influence of those who align with extremist values? Bill Ackman,@BillAckman the CEO of Pershing Square, along with several other CEOs, recently implored Harvard University to reveal the names of students who support and endorse these values, as they have no place in their organizations.
They are concerned about hiring individuals associated with such views. Over 260 elite CEOs in the global financial sector joined Bill and labeled those people with the values they support, while many of them suddenly started to hide.
So, what steps can we take to keep pushing these values out and as far away as possible from us and our loved ones? When scrutinizing job applications, visa requests, school admissions, or any other applications, it is prudent to examine an applicant's social media presence.
Look for signs of support for Palestinians, Hamas, or radical religious groups. Talk to them about their political views; look for any sign or fingerprint from these groups. You want to ensure that these individuals don't become a part of your circle, maintaining a safe distance from you and your loved ones.
This is the point where discerning individuals recognize that any tolerance for these groups or values can bring them to your doorstep, and the next victim could be someone you hold dear.
