The IDF announced Monday morning that Staff Sergeant Simon Shlomov, 20, a soldier of the 35th Paratrooper Brigade's 202nd Battalion, from Kiryat Bialik, fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip the day before.

Shlomov, a lone soldier, made Aliyah to enlist in a combat unit in the IDF. He would send remittance to his mother back in Kazakhstan.
Since the start of the war, 573 IDF soldiers have been killed, 236 of them since the beginning of ground operations in Gaza.
Meanwhile, sirens sounded Monday morning in the Gaza border towns of Nir Oz, Nirim and Ein Hashlosha for the first time in two days and the first time in a month in the Eshkol Regional Council.
