Four die from coronavirus, 1,573 new cases found in 24 hour period in Israel

There are currently 22,704 people battling the virus with 195 in serious condition with 56 of them on ventilators; In total 547 people being treated in hospitals; Slight drop in percentage of positive tests

The Health Ministry said Wednesday that 1,573 people were confirmed to have contracted coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

    There are currently 22,704 people battling the virus with 195 in serious condition. There are 56 people on ventilators.
    Positive results from testing on Tuesday, dropped to 5.7% from 6% though this is still seen as a very high percentage by health officials.
    The government had decided not to extend the closure imposed on the ultra-Orthodox city of Beitar Ilit despite the continued increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases detected there.

    One in four tests for coronavirus is found to be positive, according to the Center for information and Knowledge.
    There are at least 680 residents currently battling the virus, constituting more than 1% of residents. Only four other cities (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak and Ashdod) have more cases of coronavirus.
