As coronavirus spread continues Israel reports 3,496 new cases confirmed

There are 1048 dead from the virus while 472 are people hospitalized in serious condition of which 140 on ventilators while results of over 44,000 tests show an 8% positivity rate; since the beginning of the week Israel records 9,751 new COVID-19 cases

For the second day in a row, new coronavirus cases exceeded 3,300.

  • According to the Health Ministry 3,496 new coronavirus cases were confirmed on Tuesday bringing the number of active patients to 30,079 with 9,571 people having been found infected by COVID-19 since the beginning of the week.

    There are 458 people hospitalized in serious condition of which 140 are on ventilators.
    Fatalities as a result of COVID-19 have risen to 1,048 Israelis.
    On Monday Israel conducted 44,454 tests for the virus with an 8% positivity rate.
    Health officials say Jerusalem still leads the country with 3,686 active cases followed by Bnei Brak with 1,651. There are 802 active cases in Tel Aviv.
    At least 40 locations across Israel were placed under night-time curfew on Tuesday, in a new measure that seeks to stem the spread of the coronavirus in areas with high infection rates.

    The curfew will be in place between 7pm and 5am for a period of one week and was introduced after Haredi politicians pressured Netanyahu into rejecting a comprehensive plan for stemming the pandemic devised by coronavirus czar Prof. Ronni Gamzu.
    The areas hardest hit by the virus include many Arab sector communities as well as cities and neighborhoods with a predominately ultra-Orthodox population.
    Minister of Health Yuli Edelstein and coronavirus czar have both entered quarantine after comming into contact with a confirmed patient.
