A father and a daughter were moderately hurt Tuesday in a suspected stone-throwing attack in the West Bank, shortly before the contentious Flag March was set to begin in Jerusalem.
The 43-year-old man and the 10-year-old child were allegedly attacked during a car ride near the Palestinian town of Azzun.
The man sustained moderate wounds after he was hit in the face by a large stone suspected to have been thrown by yet unknown perpetrators. His daughter suffered light injuries.
Magen David Adom said they received reports about the accident at approximately 5:15pm.
Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after and provided the two with initial treatment before evacuating the father to Petah Tikva’s Beilinson Hospital in an unconscious state.
The attack took place minutes before the start of the annual Flag March through the streets of Jerusalem.
It march was postponed from its original date of May 28-29, due to both rocket fire from Gaza and rising tensions in and around the capital itself.
It is currently unknown if the suspected attack is in any way related to the controversial event taking place in Jerusalem.
