IDF representative in Knesset: 'We need 12,000 soldiers, including about 7,000 combat troops'

The head of the IDF Planning and Personnel Administration Division, Brigadier General Shai Tayeb, told the Knesset Subcommittee for IDF Personnel that "we need to expand the base of those serving. We need 12,000 soldiers, about 6,000-7,000 of them combat troops." According to him, "In January 2027, there will be a significant drop in troop numbers. We need to prepare in the next five years for 36 months of service and 70 days of reserve duty per year."
