KABATIA, West Bank - Marwah Kamil, Islamic Jihad leader for the West Bank city of Jenin, was killed Tuesday during a gun battle with IDF forces.

Kamil was the central focus of the operation, which began during the early hours of Tuesday morning. He was suspected of planning suicide attacks against Israeli civilians.

Palestinians reported a Palestinian policeman dressed in civilian clothes was also killed.

During the operation, one IDF soldier was wounded by shrapnel and was evacuated to HaEmek Hospital in Afula.

Following the incident, hundreds of Palestinians carried Kamil’s body through downtown Jenin calling for revenge against Israel.

Several top IDF units surrounded Kamil’s hideout overnight, calling for residents of the building to surrender. However, the suspects responded by firing on the troops instead.

Palestinian forces reported four injuries and said one suspect escaped from the building unharmed.

During the operation, Kabatia residents rioted and fired at IDF soldiers. One Palestinian was seriously injured and later died from his injuries.

Following the incident, Palestinian sources reported that an IDF bulldozer flattened Kamil's hideout.
