A Qassam rocket fired from Gaza on Tuesday struck the residence of foreign workers at the entrance to a western Negev moshav.
The incident marks the first time that a Qassam rocket landed inside the community; until now rockets fired toward the area landed in nearby open fields.
A Thai worker was moderately wounded in the attack.
Ofakim police station chief Yossi Farjun told Ynet, “the Qassam entered the structure through the roof; the worker inside was apparently sleeping during the strike.”
Magen David Adom emergency services said the man sustained shrapnel wounds to his upper body.
A fire broke out in the structure as a result of the attack, but it was quickly extinguished by firefighters dispatched to the scene.
Uri Gold, head of Eshkol Regional Council security told Ynet “we will prepare our residents in case the situation continues.”
The moshav hit by the Qassam was recently in the headlines due to the outbreak of the bird flu virus there.
