IAF strikes near Haniyeh's home

Israeli Air Force continues missiles strikes targeting Qassam-launching cells and terror infrastructure in north Gaza; warplanes hit guard post opposite Palestinian PM's home, but army stresses that Haniyeh himself was not target. Palestinian Qassam attacks on Israel continue Saturday morning

The Israeli Air Force continued targeting Qassam launchers and terror infrastructure in north Gaza overnight Saturday, after an Israeli air strike in Gaza City killed two Hamas operatives involved in rocket attacks Friday evening.

Saturday morning Palestinians in north Gaza fired another Qassam towards Israel, which landed in an open area near Sderot. A number of rockets were fired at Israeli communities throught the day Friday, one of which hit a Sderot home and wounded four people.

Shortly after midnight Friday Palestinian sources reported a series of six air strikes in northern Gaza, which wounded at least two people. The IDF confirmed two of the strikes, and said they targeted two buildings in the Jabaliya refugee camp which served Hamas.

Palestinian witnesses said the first missile strike occurred shortly after midnight and hit a workshop in Jabaliya. Two people were wounded.

Air force planes also fired at a guard post opposite the home of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in the Shati refugee camp, Palestinian security officials said.

The army confirmed the attacks in the Shati refugee camp but stressed that Haniyeh himself was not a target. No one was injured in the airstrikes, which left two large craters, smashed surrounding windows and cut electricity in the camp.

A Palestinian National Security base east of Gaza was also targeted, as well as a presidential guard post in Gaza City and a Hamas base in the Nusirat refugee camp in central Gaza. No casualties were reported in any of the incidents.

Friday evening an Israeli airstrike hit a car traveling in Gaza City, killing two and wounding at least five, Palestinian security and medical officials said.

The IDF confirmed the attack. Army sources said that the car attacked belonged to a cell which has been involved in Qassam attacks in the past, and was apparently on its way to launch rockets at Israel.

The sources added that the vehicle contained explosives that were detonated following the strike. The IDF stressed that it would continue attacking terror operatives linked to the Qassam fire.
