Shas Chairman Eli Yishai met on Tuesday afternoon with Ehud Olmert at the prime minister's official residence in Jerusalem to discuss the negotiations with the Palestinian Authority in regards to sovereignty over the capital.

Minister Yishai told Olmert he expected to be kept abreast of the ongoing talks between Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and PA negotiator Ahmed Qureia.

Yishai informed the prime minister that his party would resign from the coalition should the government make concessions to the Palestinians deemed unacceptable by Shas, particularly on the matter of Jerusalem.

Following the meeting Yishai updated Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef on the discussions.

"Shas will not divide Jerusalem and will not sit in a government that divides Jerusalem, and everyone should be aware of this," Yosef said.
