Israel is shutting its mouth and dealing with internal investigations instead of worrying about its citizens’ security” said Eshkol Regional Council head Haim Yalin to Ynet on Sunday. According to him, the Israeli government is using the inhabitants of the Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip as 'pawns'.

Yalin spoke after attending the funeral of Jimmy Kdoshim, who was killed Friday evening when a mortar shell fired from Gaza hit his house in Kibbutz Kfar Aza. "The government needs to put an end to this situation. The situation is one of war and the government needs to act accordingly,” Yalin added.

The council head praised Jimmy and said, “We buried him, a friend who loved humankind and who helped everyone. He was simply standing in his garden and was killed by a mortar shell.”

Yalin further blamed the government for hurting the resilience of Israeli society. “I would expect the government to invest in these communities especially in the most difficult moments. We need to know that Jimmy’s death and our lives have significance, we have no other home.”

Head of the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, Alon Schuster said that “this is a war of attrition, and decision-makers must understand this. We expect them to put an end to this war."

The firing of Qassam rockets continued on Sunday. A few minutes prior to Kdoshim’s funeral, two rockets fired from Gaza landed near a school bus in Sderot and in close proximity to the Sapir College.

Three Sderot children suffered from shock. In addition, two mortar shells fell in open areas in the vicinity of Netiv Ha’asara and close to the Gaza border fence. There were no injuries and no damage was reported in these incidents.
