Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon told Ynet on Wednesday that he believed an upcoming meeting between Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would not dwell on the conflict over settlement activity.

Ayalon, who is also preparing to participate in the meeting in Washington, said he believed the subject of construction in West Bank settlements would come up, "but not as a point of contention".

"The Americans also want to find a practical and acceptable solution," he added. "This debate will take place mostly during the prime minister's meeting with George Mitchell in Paris next week."

Israel's delegation to Washington, headed by Lieberman, is scheduled to hold a press conference with Clinton, at the end of which they are set to give a statement on the renewal of strategic dialogue between the two countries.

The dialogue includes Israeli security officials from the Mossad, the Israel Defense Forces, and Israel's atomic energy agency.
