First petition filed against new acting state prosecutor

The Movement for Quality Government has filed the first petition to the High Court against the appointment of Orly Ben-Ari as acting state prosecutor.
The petition states that "there is a grave concern that this is an appointment motivated by external considerations."
The movement's chairman, Eliad Shraga, said: "One cannot appoint an deputy district attorney as state prosecutor, just as one cannot appoint a battalion commander to IDF chief of staff, and certainly not in wartime. They are taking advantage of Orly Ben-Ari."
